GARLAND A. HOLLAND

Garland Augustas Holland, 88, of the 2600 block of Holland Road, a retired self-employed grocer, died Dec. 20, 1994, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.

Mr. Holland was born in Nansemond County, Va. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was a deacon and a member of the Mens Bible Class. He was predeceased by his parents, Nora Clarke Holland and Ryland Augustas Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Cross Holland; a daughter, Nancy Duke of Suffolk; two sisters, Marjorie Powell and Christine Copeland, both of Suffolk; three brothers, Woodrow Holland of East Freedom, Pa., Winston Holland of Portsmouth and Morris C. Holland of Suffolk; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Douglas W. Gibson and Dr. Ben Powers. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. and suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Hillcrest Baptist Church or to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad.
