A list of closings for the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays in the Albemarle area:
Banks: Closed Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2. Automatic teller machines will be open where available.
State and federal offices: Closed Monday for Christmas and Jan. 2 for New Year's.
U.S. Postal Service: Offices closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, with no mail delivery on those days. Some branch lobbies will be open for post office box access and postage stamp vending machines.
Division of Motor Vehicles: Closed Friday and Monday for Christmas; Monday, Jan. 2, for New Year's Day.
Inter-County Public Transportation: No commuter bus routes on Friday and Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
The Virginian-Pilot: News and advertising departments will be closed Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2. The circulation department will be open until 10 a.m., including the holidays.
National parks: The Cape Hatteras National Seashore Visitors Center in Buxton; Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in Manteo; and Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills will be closed Christmas Day. The centers will be open normal hours at all other times, including New Year's Day.
North Carolina Aquarium: The Roanoke Island attraction will be closed Christmas and New Year's Day.
Museum of the Albemarle: Closed Friday through Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
DARE COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES
County offices: Closed Friday through Tuesday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Southern Shores - Closed Friday and Monday, and Friday, Dec. 30.
Kitty Hawk - Closed Friday and Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Kill Devil Hills - Closed Friday through Tuesday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Nags Head - Open Friday and closed Monday through Wednesday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Manteo - Closed Friday and Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Recycling centers, the Manteo and Buxton transfer stations and C&D rubble site will be closed Friday and resume operations on Tuesday, Dec. 27. For New Year's, the recycling centers will reopen on Monday, Jan. 2; all other agencies will resume normal hours on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Garbage collection: No curbside trash pickup on Friday or Monday. On Tuesday, trash will be collected for the Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Colington, Hatteras, Frisco and Buxton areas. On Wednesday, trash will be picked up in Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor, East Lake, Stumpy Point, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo and Avon. A normal schedule will resume Thursday and Friday.
The same pickup routines will be used for trash normally collected Monday, Jan. 2, which also is a holiday.
CURRITUCK COUNTY
County offices: Closed Friday and Monday, and Monday, Jan. 2.
ABC stores: Alcoholic Beverage Control stores in Moyock, Grandy and Corolla will be closed Dec. 25 and 26 and Jan. 1 and 2.
Recycling centers: Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Senior Citizens Center: Closed Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Dec. 26, and on Monday, Jan. 2. The lunchroom will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 2.
CAMDEN COUNTY
County offices: Closed Friday and Monday and Jan. 2.
ABC stores: Open until 9 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve and closed on the holidays. The South Mills store will be closed Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, but the Camden store will be open on those days.
Recycling centers: The Shiloh and South Mills convenience sites will be closed Christmas Day only.
Senior Citizen Center: The center will be closed Friday through Monday, Jan. 2.
PASQUOTANK COUNTY ELIZABETH CITY
County and city offices: Closed Friday and Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
ABC stores: Closed 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and open until 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Stores will be closed on the two holidays.
Recycling centers: Closed Christmas Day.
Garbage pickup: Curbside pickup in Elizabeth City will be held as usual.
Library: Closed Friday through Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
PERQUIMANS COUNTY HERTFORD
County and town offices: Closed Friday and Monday and on Monday, Jan. 2.
Recycling centers: Closed Christmas; open New Year's Day.
Senior Citizens Center: Closed Friday through Monday.
Library: Closed Friday through Monday and Jan. 2.
CHOWAN COUNTY EDENTON
County and city offices: Edenton offices close Friday through Tuesday; Chowan County offices reopen on Tuesday.
Recycling centers: Closed Christmas; open New Year's Day.
