OUR READERS seem to agree that more is needed than just stronger communcation between parents and children to make the world a better place.
No, talk could not help the whole world, but it could help common life. It could teach children and help them learn about their life and their past. It could help us learn about our relatives and our heritage. But for the problems of the world, no, it cannot accomplish that much. - Jennifer Drapisch, 11, Larkspur Middle School
I have a 16-year-old son. No matter how much the parents want to communicate, if the child does not want to cooperate, than it's very difficult. The child may not think it's cool to talk to the parents because of the peer pressure. There are so many kids out there that are not communicating with their parents, so therefore they give the impression that it is not cool to be talking or be friendly and have a good time with their parents. - Mrs. Blythe, 41
No, we need a lot more. We cannot just talk. People talk now. What will it do? Nothing.- Raven Baldwin, seventh-grader, Larkspur Middle School
Parents talking with their children will not help. At my age, 12, and older, it's that rebellious time. Anything they say will just want us to do the opposite anyway. Sometimes parents have to let us be, and let us do our own thing. We will change; it's just a phase. So, let us go through it without a hassle. - Shawn Jackson, seventh-grader, Larkspur Middle School
It might help with some kids. I couldn't say with all. Some kids don't listen. It might make a world a better place, but there will still be kids out there with guns killing people. - Randy Morinia, eighth-grader, Larkspur Middle School by CNB
