JUST BRING LEADERSHIP

I'm a 65-year-old grandfather, so health, happiness and family are high on my Christmas list. But there are several other things that would give me comfort.

Please, Santa, bring us some leaders. We have a president who appoints thieves to office (Hubble, Espy, etc.), and after two years in office and a losing election decides to become a born-again Republican. Once we all thought the deficit was important; we now want to cut taxes. Please, do not give us a serious international crisis while this man is our president.

Next, Santa, find me a leader to conclude the Lake Gaston project. Our leaders can't make this happen and don't try to explain why.

Finally, bring me a leader of the Republican Party of Virginia. Gov. George Allen is feuding with the chairman of the party, Pat McSweeney; and Sen. John Warner seems to have left the nest altogether - all over issues that have no bearing on our quality of life.
