CRIME LINE

Local police are seeking public assistance in solving these cases:

VIRGINIA BEACH

On Tuesday, April 19, about 3 a.m., the body of Robert A. McFarland, 31, was discovered by a passerby in an alley in the 5800 block of East Hastings Arch in the Lake Edward section. McFarland had been shot in the head.

Police are seeking any information about McFarland's activities before his murder or any information that will help lead detectives to an arrest.

NORFOLK

Samuel Lamont Beale, 19, who is also known as ``Weezle,'' is wanted on charges of robbery and malicious wounding stemming from an incident on Nov. 29 in the 2800 block of Corprew Ave.

Beale is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 130 pounds. He has a light goatee.

Beale's last known address was in the 1500 block of Johnstons Road in Norfolk. He frequents the 2700 block of Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.

PORTSMOUTH

On Friday evening, Dec. 2, Margaret D. Teele, 78, went to the Food Lion grocery store in the 3900 block of Twin Pines Road to do her shopping.

On the way, a man rode up on a bicycle and ran into Teele. In the process, he tried to grab her purse.

Teele was knocked down to the pavement when the strap of her purse broke. She suffered a broken hip and right arm.

She was hospitalized until Dec. 10, when complications set in and she died.

The suspect was unsuccessful in getting the purse, and was last seen riding his bike toward the Peach Tree Housing section across the street from the shopping center.

The suspect is described as black, possibly in his teens. There is no additional description.

HAMPTON

Hampton police are asking for your help in solving an armed robbery at a local jewelry store. Crime Line will pay a cash reward if your information helps in solving this case.

On Sat. Dec. 17, at 3:14 p.m., Don's Jewelry Store at 8302 Orcutt Ave. was robbed. Two men entered the store, placed a gun to a customer's head and demanded money from the employees. While shouting demands to the employees, one of the robbers fired a shot.

The first suspect is described as black, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds and about 30 years old. He was wearing prescription glasses under a ski mask and dark clothing. He was armed with a black handgun.

The second suspect is described as black, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 pounds with a dark complexion. ILLUSTRATION: Photos
