ELLIOTT ROSENBAUM

Elliott Rosenbaum, 74, of the 600 block of Muskogee Ave., died Dec. 24, 1994, in a local hospital.

Mr. Rosenbaum was a native of Norfolk. He was a member of Temple Israel in Norfolk. He retired in 1973 with 32 years of service from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was also a member of Jewish War Veterans and Brith Sholom Lodge. Mr. Rosenbaum was the longest known survivor of Mesothelioma in the Tidewater area and a source of inspiration to other victims of this asbestos disease.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Adler Rosenbaum; a daughter, Ilene R. Soroko of Norfolk; a son, Larry David Rosenbaum of Norfolk; a sister, Hannah R. Dorf of Norfolk; a brother, Harry Rosenbaum of Virginia Beach; a brother-in-law, S. Beryl, and his wife, Leonette Adler of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Philip S. Krohn and Cantor Isaac Danker. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the home following graveside services. Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association.
