Milam McCoy Hicks Sr., 85, of the 300 block of S. Broad St., died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 1994, in Obici Hospital.
Mr. Hicks was born in Nansemond County. He retired from Lipton Tea Co. after 19 years and was also a retired self-employed mail carrier.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Clara Hicks; two daughters, Anita H. Holland and Phyllis H. Copeland, both of Suffolk; two brothers, Nemiah E. Hicks and Gibson C. Hicks, both of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Lizzie H. and Robert K. Hicks and by his son, Milam McCoy Hicks Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Charles C. Chappell. Hill Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, Va. 23439.
