Dr. H. Lake Westfall Jr., 60, of Fredericksburg, died Dec. 26, 1994, at his home.
He was the first cardiologist to locate in Fredericksburg, coming to the Pratt Clinic in 1968. He was a graduate of V.M.I. (where he attended on a football scholarship) and Duke Medical School, and performed his internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
A native of Portsmouth, he was a U.S. Army veteran and member of St. George's Episcopal Church, the Rotary Club, Fredericksburg Country Club and the Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sally S. Westfall; children, H. Lake Westfall III and John Caldwell Westfall of Richmond, Charles Finley Westfall of Atlanta and Pamela Westfall Hines of Virginia Beach; stepchildren, Jeremie Churchill Sparrow of Jackson, Tenn., and Kent Talma Churchill of Atlanta; mother, Mildred P. Carpenter of Portsmouth; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mullins and Thompson Fredericksburg Chapel. An 11 a.m. memorial service will be held Thursday at St. George's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk at 11 a.m. on Friday. The family suggests contributions to Hospice Support Care, Inc., 1616 Stafford Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
