Rev. Oliver Welch of the first block of Neville St., a pastor and retired warehouseman, died Dec. 25, 1994, in his residence.
He was born in Chowan County, N.C., and retired from the Naval Supply Center in 1972. He was a member and assistant interim pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church and was pastor of Gale Street Baptist Church for 18 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Pearline Welch; two sisters, Carthenia Miller and Mary Lloyd; two brothers, Lincoln W. Welch and James E. Welch.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be taken to church at 9:30 a.m. Friends may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
