Joseph Louis Pollara Sr., 50, of Virginia Beach, founder and president of Value Pet Stores in the Tidewater area, died Dec. 26, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Pollara, beloved husband and devoted father and grandfather, was a native of Rutherford, N.J. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Sue Pollara; a daughter, Karen Flitton and her husband, Matthew; a son, Joseph Pollara Jr., all of Virginia Beach; his mother, Lucy L. Pollara of Rutherford, N.J.; three sisters, Lucille Catalina, Paula Fox, Silvia Baldowski; a brother, Frank Pollara, all residents of New Jersey; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pollara was a passionate, generous and caring man who will be profoundly missed by those who knew him.
A church service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Kings Grant Presbyterian Church by Dr. Brain K. Dill. Burial will be in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel.
