MONOTONY IS BORING, but for Maury, being in the position to take its 21st Eastern District swimming title is anything but.
This perennial swimming power should easily take both the boys and the girls crowns, but the second-place finishes appear to be up for grabs.
``We have very strong kids (again this year),'' said Ann Laughner, Maury's girls swim coach. ``They're hard-working; they don't want to let tradition down. So, they work hard to keep it.
``District-wise, I don't see any reason why we shouldn't repeat.''
Most coaches agree that Maury will again take the title and are all set to battle it out for second.
``Maury has always had a very strong team,'' said Scot Evans, Lake Taylor's boys coach. ``So, the competition for second is pretty fierce.
``We have a lot of young potential and we could place as high as third. We have some individuals who could challenge the top swimmers.''
