VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO DELIVER MEALS

Mobile Meals of Norfolk ``desperately'' needs more volunteers to help deliver meals to homebound residents throughout the city, especially during holidays and the winter months.

Those interested do not need to make major commitments. In fact, depending on their schedules, volunteers can deliver whenever they have a chance. Substitutes are also needed for times when regular volunteers have car troubles or conflicts.

Volunteers do, however, use their own cars, vans or trucks to deliver the meals. Before leaving on a route, each volunteer is supplied with explicit directions to clients' homes.

Although no training is required, volunteers are informally screened.

Anyone interested in helping should call volunteer coordinator Michele Gillum at 455-5937. by CNB
