Sylvia Y. Nicholls, 72, of the 1200 block of N. Fairwater Drive, died Dec. 29, 1994, in her residence.
Mrs. Nicholls was the widow of Dr. Richard B. Nicholls. She was a native of Portsmouth, but spent most of her life in Norfolk. She was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and a former member of Larchmont Baptist Church in Norfolk. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Margaret Weibe of Goldsboro, N.C.; a son, G. Randy, and his wife, Linda D. Nicholls of Portsmouth; a stepson, Dr. Richard A. Nicholls of Ocean Springs, Miss.; two sisters, Anne Devoles of Norfolk, Bettie and her husband, James D. Kidder of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a grandson, George Randolph Nicholls Jr.
A church service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Good Shepherd Episcopal Church by the Rev. Ross Wright. Visitation will be this evening in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is handling arrangements.
