A police chase that began in Virginia Beach on Thursday ended in a

crash at a church in Chesapeake when the driver lost control of his

car. Police said the chase began about 1:45 p.m. at Military Highway

and Auburn Drive when officers tried to pull over a car for a

traffic violation. Shortly afterward, the car hit the Congregational

Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church at Sparrow and Cobb roads, near

the Beach border. The driver, Dorian J. Holmes, 21, of the 2500

block of Malcolm Court in Chesapeake, was taken to a hospital.

Virginia Beach police charged him with driving with a suspended

license, reckless driving and eluding police.
