A police chase that began in Virginia Beach on Thursday ended in a
crash at a church in Chesapeake when the driver lost control of his
car. Police said the chase began about 1:45 p.m. at Military Highway
and Auburn Drive when officers tried to pull over a car for a
traffic violation. Shortly afterward, the car hit the Congregational
Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church at Sparrow and Cobb roads, near
the Beach border. The driver, Dorian J. Holmes, 21, of the 2500
block of Malcolm Court in Chesapeake, was taken to a hospital.
Virginia Beach police charged him with driving with a suspended
license, reckless driving and eluding police.
