``The positive option'' (editorial, Dec. 22) should have been titled ``The distorted option.'' You seem to have written this piece and then failed to proofread for correct and complete facts. First you said that Gov. George Allen had proposed reducing the state's contribution for public television and eliminating the state's contribution for public radio. Next you go on to say that 14 percent of CPB's funding comes from Washington (We all know where Washington gets its money), and the rest comes from the private sector.
Am I missing something? As our brilliant vice president says, ``Words mean things.'' Where in this equation is our commonwealth's contribution taken into account? Is this an oversight, new math, lack of understanding or just plain distortion under the premise that the end justifies the means?
Cannot a case be made for tax money being spent on radio/TV without relying on half-truths and distorted facts? That is the type of ``leadership'' that American citizens are fed up with.
