Francis Earl Mercer, 81, of the 300 block of Daffodil Lane, retired Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue for the City of Chesapeake, died Dec. 30, 1994, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Mercer was born in Norfolk and was a member and deacon emeritus of Rosemont Christian Church. He was a board member of Union Mission and Hope Haven Children's Home; Chesapeake Volunteers in Youth Service, Inc.; Southside Lions Club; and a member of Berkley Masonic Lodge (NU)167.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine R. Mercer.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Rosemont Christian Church, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Robert Harrell, the Rev. Ted Bashford and the Rev. William Cuthrell. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Contributions may be made to Hope Haven Children's Home, Chesapeake Volunteers in Youth Service, Inc. or Rosemont Christian Church.
