The following is a list of observances for the first day of the
new year. Many businesses and city offices will observe the holiday
Monday. Banks, city and state offices and courts will be closed on
Monday.
Garbage collection: Portsmouth will have regular collection.
Collection in Chesapeake will be on Wednesday. Collection in
Virginia Beach will be on Tuesday and Suffolk collection will be a
day late each day.
Recycling Collection: There will be no collection in Virginia
Beach; collection resumes on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Chesapeake, Norfolk
and Portsmouth will have regular collection.
Postal Service: There will be no regular mail or package
delivery.
ABC stores: All ABC stores will be closed.
Tidewater Regional Transit: TRT will follow a Sunday schedule.
