The Children's Museum is designed to let children learn and play in an uninhibited atmosphere. That does not give them a license to destruct.
The exhibits are sturdy and child-proof under normal wear and tear, but some children are inordinately destructive. It is disturbing when adults stand by and let excessively rambunctious kids tear up an exhibit.
Many small children either cannot or do not read the materials that explain the exhibits. They generally respond positively and actually have more fun when adults show them how to play with the exhibits.
Children can be shown the way without feeling inhibited. And those few kids who continue to abuse the exhibits should not be allowed to take away the pleasures of the museum for thousands of others who behave normally. by CNB
