RALPH T. HINES

Ralph Thurston Hines, 75, departed this life on Jan. 1, 1995, in Johnston-Willis Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Hines leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Helen Mae Sullivan Hines; three daughters, Mrs. C. Clark (Betty Lynne) Jones of Midlothian, Mrs. David W. (Linda Diane) Berg of Richmond and Mrs. Paul S. (Donna Kay) Roper of Midlothian; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Paige Jones, Hannah Lynne Jones and Patrick Clint Trapp and one step-grandchild, Thomas R. Roper.

Mr. Hines also predeceases two brothers, William Jarvis Hines and James Ray Hines, both of Chesapeake and one sister, Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Bizzell of Newport News. During the 1930's, Mr. Hines served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and helped construct the Pocahontas State Park, served as president of the Lions Club of Portsmouth - Olive Branch in 1963-64. He retired in 1973 as an engineer with the Department of the Army, was a member of the Chester Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held on Jan. 3, 1995 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Road. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Chester Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 3424 West Hundred Road, Chester, Va. 23831.
