Donald Raymond Hood, 65, of the 5000 block of Margate Ave., died Dec. 31, 1994, in Norfolk.
Mr. Hood was born in East Stroudsburg, Pa. He had retired from USNR as a chief petty officer. He had also retired from Virginia Beach Public Schools as a teacher and had worked from 1974-1985. He also worked for Lockland Ohio Public Schools from 1951-1974. He was a member of Good Samaritan Episcopal Church and was a past Vestry member, Lay Reader and Chalice Bearer. He was also a member of the B.P.O.E. Norfolk Elks Lodge 38 where he was past Exalted Ruler; past chief ranger of Independent Order of Foresters; and former volunteer with 3rd Precinct - Parking Enforcement Specialist Team with Virginia Beach Police.
Survivors include his wife, Delcie Dean Woodson Hood; four daughters, Rebecca and her husband, Christopher Dotson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Deborah Cowdrey and Dona Whittaker, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Michelle Hall of Earlysville, Va.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Good Samaritan Episcopal Church by the Rev. Robert Lundquist. Burial with an Elks ritual will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
