Norfolk police said Charles Lee Purdy, 57, of the 7500 block of Ave. J, was killed early Sunday when he was struck by a van that did not stop.
Purdy was crossing the street in the 7500 block of Sewells Point Road about 12:10 a.m. when witnesses said he was hit by a Dodge minivan. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the van was found abandoned later.
