CHAMBER
N. Robert Kopecko Jr. was elected chairman of the board of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce for 1995. Kopecko is a managing partner of Ernst & Young in Virginia Beach.
The chamber also elected Gerald T. Chesser chairman-elect and Stephen C. St. John treasurer. Chesser is plant manager at Planters Co. in Suffolk, and St. John is a partner with the law firm of Faggert & Frieden in Chesapeake.
MANUFACTURING
Stihl Inc. in Virginia Beach appointed Peter Stucke manager of engineering quality services. Stucke was a consultant to Andreas Stihl Kg. in Germany. He holds a doctorate in engineering.
The manufacturer also appointed Peggy Moulton-Abbott a marketing research analyst. Moulton-Abbott was a marketing manager with Tidewater Health Care.
Also, Daniel Walker was appointed an environmental engineer in the company's quality services department. Walker, from Shreveport, La., has a mechanical engineering degree from Louisiana Tech University.
And, Casey McGrath was appointed product manager of industrial tools and Timothy Clark was appointed technical services representative. McGrath was previous ly a territory manager for Bryan Equipment Sales, a Stihl distributor. And, Clark was a service manager with Northeast Stihl.
The manufacturer also promoted Robert Jackson D'Armond from advertising manager to marketing communications manager.
RETAIL
Guy R. Sykes was elected to the newly-created position of chief operating officer with Camellia Food Stores Inc. in Norfolk. He will consolidate and focus the buying functions of the meat, deli/bakery, produce and dairy facilities with those of the retail division.
Sykes was vice president of retail operations. Camellia owns and operates stores in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. It also operates stores in North Carolina under the banners of Be-Lo, Food City, and Meatland.
MID-ATLANTIC
Westinghouse Electric Corp.'s chief executive, Michael Jordan, was named chairman of the United Negro College Fund. Jordan, 57, has been a board member of the college fund since 1986. The United Negro College Fund has raised nearly $1 billion since it was founded 50 years ago. Jordan joined Westinghouse, based in Fairfax, as chairman and chief executive officer in June 1993.
