FLOYD G. CATHEY

Floyd Graham ``Capt. Pete'' Cathey, 86, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., died Sunday, Jan. 1, 1995, at his residence.

Mr. Cathey, a native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., was retired from the construction industry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kitty Hawk where he served on the Board of Deacons. He also was a Past Master of the Masonic Lodge, Hall's Lodge Number 53, a 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. Mr. Cathey was a construction supervisor and a member of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. He was the son of the late Walter Graham and Anna Mary White Cathey and the widower of Mary Priscilla Hill Cathey.

Mr. Cathey is survived by one son, Billy Clayton Cathey of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Kitty Hawk on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Clinton Hardee. Burial will follow in the Roanoke Island Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to Kill Devils Hills Fire Department or to First Baptist Church of Kitty Hawk.

Twiford's Colony Chapel, Manteo is in charge of arrangements.
