22 PERCENT RAISE FOR LOTTERY DIRECTOR?

I used to be a supporter of the state lottery system, but not any more since reading the article on the lottery director, Penelope Kyle, to whom Governor Allen proposed to give a 22 percent raise on top of her $94,676 salary after only a half-year at the job.

Poor Penelope. She says she deserves the raise because she made so much more in the private sector. Well, I say go back to the private sector and quit crying!

And she has the nerve to say she's worried about sending her three children (all less than 6 years old now) to private school on her and her attorney husband's combined income. Perhaps if she can't manage that task, one that faces millions of us parents today, then certainly she is ill-equipped to manage the millions in the state lottery.

I'd like to see an in-depth investigative report on the whole lottery system. This looks like just the tip of the iceberg of a gross abuse of power.
