Algie Bradford Ward, Sr., 91, of the 500 block of Great Bridge Blvd., a retired leading man machinist and farmer, died Jan. 3, 1995, in Chesapeake.
Mr. Ward was born in Nansemond County. He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard, was in Fellowship at Gospel Hall on Laurel Avenue, Chesapeake, and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth C. Ward; three daughters, Margaret Ward Gaskins of Zuni, Rosalie Ward Hoblit of Lancaster, Calif., and Mary E. Ward of Pfafftown, N.C.; a son, Algie Bradford Ward, Jr. of West Point; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Ward Old of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by Donald Olson and Richard Todd. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today and at the residence all other times.
