Tannie Newell Batson, 66, of the 5800 block of Oak Terrace Drive, died Jan. 3, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Batson was born in Wilmington, N.C., and was a Protestant.
Survivors include her husband, William E. Batson; three daughters, Belinda K. Hudson of Suffolk, Wanda and husband, Ralph Hurlburt of Virginia Beach, Sandra and husband, Clay Hallem of Virginia Beach; two sons, James E. and wife, Sandy Batson of Moyock, Donald L. and wife, Florence Batson of Suffolk; her mother, Mandy E. Gilliken of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Raymond W. Newell and Andrew H. Newell, both of Wilmington; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; an uncle, Ollie Butler; an aunt, Sadie Larson, both of Wilmington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew W. Batson.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Paul D. Moore. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
