Construction spending increased 0.7 percent in November, the fourth straight gain despite rising interest rates. The Commerce Department said that spending on residential, nonresidential and government projects totaled $522.7 billion at a seasonally adjusted annual rate. Spending totaled a revised $518.9 billion annual rate in October, when outlays rose 0.9 percent. The initial October estimate was $518.1 billion. The latest advance meant that outlays in November were 6.6 percent above those of a year ago. (AP) by CNB
