Salem's Anthony Fradillada talked a good game Wednesday, then wrestled an even better one.
Fradillada outdueled First Colonial's Mike ``Rudy'' Butler, 7-4, in a pivotal 160-pound match to lead sixth-ranked Salem to a 34-19 victory over the ninth-ranked Patriots at First Colonial.
Fradillada's triumph - in a match the Patriots had to have - cleared the way for 171-pounder Jeff Walck and second-ranked 189-pounder Daemon Schultz, who notched back-to-back first period pins to put First Colonial away.
But Fradillada seemed to take the most pride in the ``psych job'' he did on teammate Chris Wagner, who pulled out another key match at 145.
``I knew we needed that match, so I was back there getting (Wagner) hyped up,'' Fradillada said. ``I was like, `Don't punk out on me, man! We're about to lose to FC. I ain't going out like that!' ''
Wagner promptly delivered a crisp 13-4 victory over Chris Karhan.
The victory boosted the Sun Devils' record to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the Beach District. Salem is unbeaten since dropping decisions to No. 3 Western Branch and No. 1 Great Bridge on Dec. 3.
First Colonial fell to 3-3, 2-3, despite strong efforts from 130-pounder Pierre Pryor and heavyweight Patrick McDowell.
Pryor, a first-year wrestler, wiped out Chris Wagner, 20-10. And McDowell closed out the match in style by pinning Eric Ramsey in 2:44.
In the lone match pitting ranked wrestlers, No. 3 Ramon Copeland of Salem outdueled No. 2 Jason Bernd, 4-2, at 125.
