ISABELLE B. GASPAR

Isabelle Betts Gaspar of the 3000 block of Sand Bend Road, died Monday, Jan. 2, 1995.

She was born in Irving, Mich., on April 27, 1909, the second of eight children by Edward A. Betts nad Bertha Belle Betts.

Isabelle was the beloved mother of William P. Gaspar of Virginia Beach, Edward F. Gaspar of St. Augustine, Fla., Robert J. Gaspar of Houston, Texas, and John B. Gaspar of Phoenix, Ariz. She leaves 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Melba Berry of Kalamazoo, Mich., Helen Placek of Eagle River, Wis., Lois Nichol of Elgin, Ill.; and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Gaspar, in 1951.

Isabelle graduated from Northern Michigan University (formerly Northern State Teacher's College) in 1929. She was a music teacher in the Flint, Mich., school system and also taught private piano and voice lessons until her retirement in 1969. She then moved to Virginia Beach, starting a second career as a librarian at the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment) where she worked until retiring in 1993.

Memories of Isabelle will be held dear for all time by everyone whose lives she touched, including a host of friends, former students and A.R.E. associates.

In accordance with her wishes, Isabelle's body has been donated to science, with no funeral service to be held. A memorial service will be conducted at a time to be announced later. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 4020 Llewellyn Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23504. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
