EDWARD L. MARKS III

Edward L. ``Billy'' Marks III, 67, of 30501 Country Club Road, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1995.

Mr. Marks, a lifelong resident of Southampton County, was the son of the late E.L. ``Bill'' Jr. and Bessie Kitchen Marks. He was the founder and co-owner of Marks Construction Company. He was a Navy veteran and a member and senior warden of St. Luke's Episocpal Church, Courtland.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Scott Marks; one son, Edward Lewis Marks IV and his wife, Annette Pickett Marks of Franklin; his stepmother, Jessie Marks of Courtland; two sisters, Shirley M. McBroom of Fredericksburg and Patsy M. Cox of Franklin; one brother, James Franklin Marks of Courtland; two grandchildren, Martha Francis Marks and Edward Lewis Marks V; mother-in-law, Maud R. Scott of Franklin; sister-in-law, Ann S. Perkins of Kalamazoo, Mich.; brother-in-law, E.M. ``Buck'' Scott Jr. of Norfolk. Mr. Marks was predeceased by one sister, Anne M. Nixon.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Courtland, by the Rev. James W. Browder. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to either St. Luke's Episcopal Church or the Texie Camp Marks Children's Center. Wright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
