EFFIE R. MUCKELVENE

Effie Ree Muckelvene, 62, of the 400 block of Knells Ridge Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Muckelvene was born on Oct. 1, 1932, in Scotland Neck, N.C. She was the daughter of Cora L. Battle of Virginia Beach and the late Henry Battle. She was employed by Seymour's Barber Shop and the Public School System. She was a member of First Baptist Church Westmunden, where she served in the Senior Choir and on the Usher Board. She was past president of The Progressive Club.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her two daughters, Sheila R. Grace of Virginia Beach, Becky Morgan of A.P.G., Md.; one son, James I. Muckelvene of Silver Spring, Md.; two sons-in-law, Joe L. Grace of Virginia Beach and Bruce Morgan of A.P.G., Md.; one daughter-in-law, Pearline Muckelvene; four sisters, Mattie Louise Wallace and Betty Evans of Virginia Beach, Cora Lee Simpson and Evelyn Cherry of Chesapeake; two brothers, William Albert Battle and James Battle of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, Kory A. Brothers, Kecia N. Brothers, Janique Muckelvene, Jamecia Muckelvene, Jatawny Muckelvene, Na'Toshya Morgan and TaMekia Morgan; three great-grandchildren, Antonio Johnson, DeAndre Muckelvene and ShaiNeace Muckelvene; three foster children, Romika, YKemica and Caira Hall; a special friend, Robert Sawyer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Westmunden, Chesapeake, by Pastor John L. Ashby. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fitchett Funeral Home is in charge. The family will be at 2008 Woodhill Road, Virginia Beach. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
