ARMINTA D. GOODE

Arminta DeLoatch Goode, daughter of the late David and Inez DeLoatch, died Jan. 2, 1995.

She was born in Suffolk and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Her career included teaching at Blackwell Elementary School in Richmond for 20 years and serving as a paraprofessional at Bellevue, Maymont and Nathaniel Bacon Elementary Schools in Richmond.

While in Richmond, she joined Fourth Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ella Perry Davis Sunday School Class and served on the Transportation and Nursery Committees.

After her retirement in 1988, Mrs. Goode returned to Suffolk and joined Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she participated in various organizations, including the Chapel Choir, Bible Study Group, Adult Sunday School Class, Polly Armstrong Missionary Circle and Kitchen Committee. Mrs. Goode was also an active community volunteer.

She is survived by two daughters, Gloria A. Goode of Suffolk and Cheryl D. Frierson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Maxwell L. Jamison Jr. and Danielle A. Frierson, both of Richmond; one brother, David W. DeLoatch Sr. of Suffolk; three sisters, Delores D. Parker, Dr. Vasti DeLoatch and Grace E. DeLoatch, all of Richmond; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Metropolitan Baptist Church on County Street in Suffolk, by the Rev. Melvin Boone. Remains rest at Crocker Funeral Home and will be taken to the church at noon. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 502 Mahlon Ave.
