Hurley Holland Byrd Jr., 69, of the first block of Norris St., a retired carpenter, died Jan. 5, 1995, in Obici Hospital, Suffolk.
Mr. Byrd was born in Suffolk, son of the late Jennie Eva Duke Byrd and Hurley Holland Byrd Sr. He was retired from G.P. Jackson Construction and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Suffolk, and the William Glover Sunday School Class. Mr. Byrd was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Johnson ``Nita'' Byrd; a son, Edward T. Byrd of Seymour, Ind.; two sisters, Dorothy B. Edwards of Windsor and Barbara B. Overton of Franklin; three grandchildren, Michael Byrd, James Byrd and Kimberly Byrd. He was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia B. Hamil.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Liberty Baptist Church, Suffolk, by the Rev. T.A. Powell. Burial will be in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today and suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund, 2601 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
