FRANCES M. BENTON

Mrs. Frances Munford Benton, age 73, a resident of Carolina Road in Suffolk, died on Jan. 6, 1995, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk. Mrs. Benton was a native of Surry County and the daughter of the late John Irvin and Ettie Grant Munford. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Suffolk and a member of the Woman's Fellowship at the church. She retired from Union Camp.

She is survived by two sons, John Earl Benton, Jimmie Lee Benton, both of Suffolk, two sisters, Evelyn M. Martin of Virginia Beach and Cora M. Luter of Ivor, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Monday, Jan. 9, 1995, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Alan Fellumlee and the Rev. Larry Burkhart. Burial will be in the Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Suffolk Rescue Squad or to the United Lung Association.
