Sallie Swindell Pearce, 81, of the 5100 block of Portsmouth Blvd., died Jan. 7, 1995, in her residence.
Mrs. Pearce was born in Bath, N.C. She was a member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church and The Nancy Bristow Circle of the church and was the widow of Joseph A. Pearce.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally P. Britton of Chesapeake; two sons, Robert S. Pearce of Portsmouth and James M. Pearce of Chesterville, Mo.; two sisters, Jackabyna Adams and Julia Tucker, both of Townsville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. James D. Thomas. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and other times at 2730 East Meadow Drive, Chesapeake.
