``Posh suburb says: Yes! to smut, No! to fast food'' (headline, Dec. 28): The Associated Press text beneath it also trivialized the issues. A casual reader might assume the citizens of Bexley are health-food nuts and pornography addicts.
The facts are that fast-food places do cause an increase in traffic and noise, do change the way the air smells, and unquestionably trash the neighborhood with burger wrappers, straws, bags, napkins, cups, etc., usually emblazoned with the franchise logo and colors.
Any stable neighborhood, of any income level, should have serious questions about whether the convenience of a local fast-food outlet outweighs the disadvantages of such changes.
