Frances A. Carter, 78, of the 6100 block of Powhatan Ave., died Jan. 8, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mrs. Carter was born in Roanoke, Virginia. She was a member of Park Place Methodist Church. She attended Roanoke College, Mary Baldwin and Salem College. She was a member of Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and was a former member of the Princess Anne Country Club.
She lived in numerous towns and cities in Virginia, West Virginia and Ohio with her husband, Harold E. Carter, formerly with Norfolk and Western Railway.
She is survived by a son, Dr. James E. Carter of Avon Connecticut; and two grandchildren, Laura A. Carter and Jeffrey E. Carter, both of Boston, Massachusetts.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Chuck Smith and the Rev. Francis Collins. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements. The family will be at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity in her memory.
