I agree with Martha Smith 100 percent (letter, Dec. 31). Virginians elected George Allen governor to make rightful decisions for Virginia and its people.
I was surprised to learn that Mr. Allen is proposing to slash funds for education, mental and physical health, cultural programs, public safety and on and on - just to raise money for prisons.
Mr. Allen needs to redo his thinking.
Virginia needs money to pay for programs vital to its people - programs to care for the elderly, educate the children and for health care and other programs which are vital to us.
