John Henry Boney, 87, of the 700 block of E. 28th St., a retired merchant seaman, died Jan. 5, 1995, in Lake Taylor Hospital.
Mr. Boney was born in Norfolk, son of the late Martha J. and John Boney. He was retired from the National Maritime Union after 45 years and was a former member of New Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey B. Boney; four daughters, Melba L. Owens, Audrey M. Brown, both of Portsmouth, Elsie P. McInnis, Martha A. Boney, both of Norfolk; three sons, John E. Boney, Oliver A. Boney and Marvin M. Boney, all of Norfolk; a sister, Gladys White of Norfolk; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in New Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. G.G. Campbell. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. today. The family will assemble at his residence. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
