Herbert F. Rice, 82, died Monday, Jan. 9, 1995.
He was a native of Sunbury, N.C., and had lived in Dania, Fla., for years before moving to Gloucester Point, Va., in 1993. He was retired from the Whirlpool Corporation, where he worked as a regional salesman. Mr. Rice was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church at Gloucester Point. He was a life member of the Naval Lodge (NU)4 in Washington and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was a resident of Riverside Regional Convalescent Center, where he died.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Schar Rice; five cousins, Edna Blossom and Mildred Lane, both of Currituck, N.C., Vernon T. Rice of Sunbury, N.C., Margarite Scott of Vidalia, Ill., and Tommy Thompson of Houston, Texas.
A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Linwood T. Daniel at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, with Masonic rites by Achilles Lodge (NU)281, AF & AM. A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Cumberland, Va., at 11 a.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Ron Wyatt. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, (NU)20 Koger Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502, or Shriner's Orthopedic Hospital, 950 W. Farris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605-4277.
