Velma J. Byrum, 80, of the 1500 block of Elder Ave., retired co-owner of Highland Florist, died Jan. 9, 1995, in Norfolk.
Mrs. Byrum was born in Enfield, N.C., and was the widow of Elmer Byrum. She was a member of Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include two daughters, Ada Adele Whitehead of Chesapeake and June B. Savage of Virginia Beach; two sons, Ronnie L. Byrum of Chesapeake and E. Wayne Byrum of Canton, Mich.; two sisters, Helen L. White of Virginia Beach and Doris L. Adams of Enfield, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene by the Rev. John Wesley Smith. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
