One of two youths accused in the killing of a Norfolk taxi driver last April was convicted of murder on Monday.
In a one-day trial, Circuit Judge Charles E. Poston found Howard Lee Chapman, 18, guilty of first-degree murder and attempted robbery in the shooting death of Donald J. Reynolds. Chapman was found not guilty of a firearms charge.
He is to be sentenced March 22.
Chapman's co-defendant, Reginald Evans, is scheduled for trial next month. Prosecutors have identified Evans as the triggerman.
He faces a capital murder charge but cannot be executed if found guilty because he was only 15 at the time of the offense.
Reynolds, 43, died after being shot five times in an attempted robbery.
