Elizabeth City Council members agreed Monday night to discuss the proposed merger of the city and county governments at a special meeting on Jan. 17.
Pasquotank County Commissioners voted to call for a discussion at the March city-county meeting, County Manager Randy Keaton said. Specialists from the Institute of Government would be invited to discuss the proposal.
A citizen committee last month recommended moving forward with implementation plans for merging the two governments. Both boards must authorize the next step. by CNB
