Charges against a man accused of shooting a nightclub patron Dec. 17 were upgraded to first-degree murder Monday because the victim died over the weekend, police said.
Keith D. Holley, 25, of the 400 block of Spring Hill Court, is being held without bond in the city jail. Police said Larry E. Burrus was shot several times in the parking lot of Mr. Magic's nightclub. Both men had been inside the club earlier. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Holley had been charged with malicious assault. Burrus, of the 6600 block of Pilot Ave. in Norfolk, died of the injuries Saturday in a hospital.
