George V. McGowan, 76, of the 1500 block of Campostella Road died Jan. 9, 1995, in his residence.
Mr. McGowan was born in Alachua County, Fla., and was a Chesapeake resident for many years. He was formerly a welder with E.V. Williams Co. and Holmes Brothers Co.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Grimes of Plant City, Fla.; five sons, Ronald McGowan of Venice, Fla., Lloyd McGowan of Plant City, Fla., George D. McGowan and Wayne McGowan, both of Chesapeake and Dennis McGowan of Virginia Beach; a sister, Grace Clayton of Mulberry, Fla.; two brothers, John ``Jay'' McGowan of Brandon, Fla., and Glenn McGowan of Tulsa, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Ernest L. Trueblood. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, from 4 to 6 p.m. today.
