In the editorial series ``examining issues that will face the 104th Congress,'' your socialist economic philosophy is showing, especially in ``Where to cut'' (Dec. 30). First of all, leave off the table anything that has been earned. Second, fully fund the true federal responsibilities, e.g., national defense and securing the borders. Beyond that, the ABCs aren't really difficult:
A. If you simply freeze federal spending at current levels (with allowance for inflation) and maintain the current tax structure, you achieve a balanced budget in 5 to 7 years.
B. If you eliminate federal agencies (get the government off our backs) and federal programs (giveaways and redistribution of wealth), you accelerate achieving a balanced budget.
C. The real kicker! Every time we have lowered taxes, we have increased revenues (i.e., from more than $500 billion to more than $900 billion in the ``decade of greed'' 1980s). Unfortunately, Congress spent $1.50 for every $1 of increased revenue in the '90s. Do you begin to get the picture?
Trust me. Sit back, relax and have some cheese with that whine. Newt, Dick Armey, Bill Archer, Phil Gramm and the boys have everything under control. Nov. 8, 1994, was just the first shot of Revolution '94. Jan. 4, we begin the march. Hang on America, the cavalry's on the way!
