At the risk of sounding completely unaware, I had no idea that Salvation Army donations were being given, in the form of $5 gift bags, to Norfolk City Jail inmates.
I made a point this year to offer every single red kettle I came across a portion of cash from my wallet. I wasn't going to pass one without something going in. Not next year.
The folks at the Salvation Army seemingly want us to believe there are not enough poor, destitute, unfortunate, homeless and needy people needing help in this area. The Salvation Army seems to have more money than sense.
