Nettie Madeline Deal, 98, of the 2800 block of Forehand Drive, died Jan. 10, 1995, in a Portsmouth hospital.
She was a native of Norfolk County and was the widow of Zach J. Deal Sr. She was retired as a seamstress for Sears, Betty & Bob in Portsmouth and was the oldest member of Deep Creek Baptist Church in Chesapeake.
Survivors include a daughter, Nettie D. Burks of Bumpass, Va.; two sons, the Rev. Zach J. Deal Jr. and Thomas R. Deal Sr., both of Chesapeake; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernest W. Myers and Dr. Roscoe Musselwhite. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
