John Leonard Bowes Sr. died Jan. 6, 1995 and his wife, Virginia Ridgley Bowes, died Sept. 14, 1994.
Mr. and Mrs. Bowes belonged to Our Lady of Victory Chapel at the Naval Station, Norfolk. Mr. Bowes was retired as a marine surveyor from the Army Corps of Engineers and was also a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol J. and her husband, Joseph B. Cox Jr. of Sullivan's Island, S.C.; a son, John L. Bowes Jr. and his wife, Lynne P. of Point Mugu, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. They are also survived by Mr. Bowes' sister and brother, Marie B. Katz and R.M. Bowes Jr., both of Kansas City, Mo.
A memorial Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Victory Chapel, Naval Station, Norfolk, by Fr. Bill Cuddy. Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to a charity of one's choice.
