HELEN S. LAMB

Helen Spence Lamb of the 6900 block of Minnie Ave., a homemaker, died Jan. 8, 1995, in DePaul Medical Center.

Mrs. Lamb was born in Norfolk County, Va., and was the widow of Owen Lamb. She was a member of Garden of Prayer Temple COGIC in Portsmouth and was a member of the Mother Board and a licensed missionary. She was a member of Eastern State Correction Center, Norfolk Jail Ministry, Union Prayer Band and was associated with Hillhaven Nursing Home. She was crowned Miss Garden of Prayer Queen in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Fannie Colona of Chesapeake; two sons, William P. Lamb and Owen B. Lamb, both of Norfolk; five sisters, Sarah Moore, Lucy Miles, both of Norfolk, Henrietta White of Williamsburg, Va., Hattie Reid of Suffolk and Imogene Davis of Chesapeake; a brother, James Stancil of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Garden of Prayer Temple COGIC, 812 Washington St., Portsmouth, by Bishop L.E. Willis. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. A Christian wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church. Family and friends will assemble at the residence at noon Sunday for the processional to the church. T.E. Cooke-Twilight Funeral Home, Suffolk, is handling arrangements.
